WILD excerpt

This scene takes place after Ann and John have met and are discussing their new friends: Portia and Johannes Duvall, who happen to be vampires.

The high altitude Colorado sun gently warmed John’s back as he lounged beside the pool. Water dripped from his jet black hair onto the oversized towel draped over the lounge chair. A cool touch made him jump, until he realized it was Ann, rubbing suntan lotion on his back.
“Don’t want you all sunburned, Darling. She said. “I need you healthy tonight.”
In daylight, surrounded by bright white concrete and crystal blue water, the previous night’s events seemed unreal. Nonetheless, he said, “I still think the best plan is to be packed and on the plane back to RDU and Raleigh before they get out of their coffins.”
Ann stretched out on the chaise lounge next to his. “They don’t use coffins, remember? Portia said it was gauche.” She ignored his rolling eyes and continued, “I really don’t think we’re in any danger; they’re more interested in each other than us. I mean, did you feel the chemistry between them? They’ve been together for hundreds of years. The history they’ve seen!”
John said, “Oh yeah, the couple that drinks blood together, stays together.”
Ann corrected, “Nip. The couple that nips together, well, does something together. And that’s what’s so sad, that they’re so miserable. Anyway, so tonight is Reconnoiter Night. Pay attention to absolutely everything. Look for weaknesses, some way we can get them interested in each other again.”
John said, “OK, OK. But promise that if anything looks dodgy, we’re on the next plane out of here.”
“Agreed. I have no interest in becoming a vampire’s love slave.” She glanced sideways at John, “I wonder, though, what would it feel like?”
She reached over and took his hand, stroked his palm a moment, then guided his index finger toward her mouth. She had a gleam in her beautiful blue eyes. “What would a ‘nip’ feel like? Johannes said it doesn’t hurt. Maybe it feels like a gentle lick, like this.” Her tongue flicked out for the briefest of moments to stroke the tip of his finger.
The gleam in John’s bedroom brown eyes matched hers, but he pretended nonchalance. “Oh, I’m sure it would be more of a sensation than that.”
“Oh? Maybe more of a very, very soft bite?” She ever so gently squeezed his finger with her teeth.
John retrieved his hand, rolled to face her, taking her hand in his. “I think it would feel more like this.” He placed her finger in his mouth and sucked on it, followed by a series of kisses in the palm of her hand. The pleasure was obvious in her eyes. John was becoming aware of his own growing pleasure as well.
There was splashing and laughter from the other side of the pool. John leaned close to Ann. “I believe that boy over there just suggested that we get a room.”
“I like that idea.” She responded, so they gathered their towels and headed to the suite.
The door had barely clicked closed before they shed the wet swimsuits and stood kissing and embracing.
John’s face felt cool to the touch, contrasting nicely with his warm lips, his gentle, stroking tongue surrounded by sweet, hot breath, exciting the fire Ann felt deep inside. His signature fragrance, Eternity, rose up to her nose, leading her to utter, “Umm, you’re making me hot.” She held his hips pressed against hers, while she leaned back and shook water drops from her long blonde hair.
John kissed her cool, naked breasts, her nipples taut from the cool inside temperature. He moved up to her neck where he inhaled a whiff of Tresor, which he had grown to associate with her during their 20 years together. Still holding her, he leaned down and picked up the bath towel from the floor. His arms encircling Ann, he gently dried the tips of her hair and patted the towel down her smooth back and buttocks, his excitement growing with each movement of their bodies pressed together.
She took the towel from him and returned the favor, smoothing down his jet black hair and stroking his back and thighs in a way that made him shiver in anticipation. Then she dropped the towel and settled into his arms as they moved toward the bedroom.
The air conditioning was just beginning to cause goose bumps when they slipped underneath the down comforter and among the soft white sheets of the antique four-poster bed. This new, gentle cocooning warmth stirred Ann to even more intense waves of desire, so much that she wanted nothing more than to share herself with her man, to open herself fully to the pleasures of his love.
John eagerly responded to her yearning and kissed her all over as he moved on top of her.
Ann moaned with pleasure as he separated her legs and entered her. Their bodies rocked together in repeated waves of ecstasy, until their passion united them in a glorious explosion that seemed to last for all eternity.
She took the towel from him and returned the favor, smoothing down his jet black hair and stroking his back and thighs in a way that made him shiver in anticipation. Then she dropped the towel and settled into his arms as they moved toward the bedroom.
